Favorite Jersey
I've decided that my favorite jersey is a Houston Astros jersey from the late 80's-early 90's. I think the most famous player that ever wore this suit was Nolan Ryan (MLB pitcher who played from '66-'93). I just think the retro coloring and armbands are pretty sweet.
....Sorry
Sorry (few people who are reading) that I haven't been posting for a while. I've been away. I even went to Safeco Field (the Mariners stadium). Now I know this blog was never exactly at the height of popularity but know I'm really gonna start blogging again.

Player Profile: Starlin Castro vs. Jose Reyes

Two of my favorite players in the MLB, Jose Reyes (New York Mets), and Starlin Castro (Chicago Cubs) always seem to remind me of each other, so I decided to compare them. I think they are both very talented shortstops, however I think Reyes is slightly more skilled (than Castro). However I think and hope Castro will eventually become a Reyes-like figure in baseball. I am not surprised at all that Reyes is currently doing a little better than Castro, mostly because Castro has only been playing for a little over a year whereas Reyes has been in the league for roughly 8 years. I like Reyes is pretty much known for his triples, stolen bases, and overall speed. But Castro is known mostly known for talent as one o the youngest players in the league. Then there's everything about Reyes possibly being traded. I think he would be perfect for the Giants, and since I'm a Giants fan I hope he is traded to them. But all in all II think Jose Reyes and Starlin Castro are both incredibly talented shortstops.

2011 World Series Predictions
Who will win it all? I have chosen 4 teams that I think will do very well tis year, perhaps win the World Series. In the AL there's the Yankees and Red Sox, and in the NL there's the Phillies and the Giants. The Yankees and the Sox both have several power hitters, who their teams pretty much depend on. However, the Phillies and Giants both have very few power hitters and often depend on their excellent bullpen and extra base hits and RBI's. As I previously mentioned the two NL teams, the Giants and the Phillies, both have phenomenal pitching staffs. The Giants have Tim Lincecum and Brian Wilson. Who both had career high seasons last year. Then up in Philadelphia he have perhaps the best pitching staff in the game (currently). There's Roy "The Doc" Halladay, who had a perfect game last May, and a postseason no-hitter against the Reds, Cliff Lee who had a glimpse of glory last year, but then fell to the Giants in the World Series, and there's Roy Oswalt who had a remarkable season after moving to the Phillies last year. But no matter who wins, I think this is going to be an exciting postseason.

Mauer's Return
Joe Mauer (Twins Catcher) has finally been activated from the 60-day disabled list. Mauer missed 57 games. In these games Drew Butera, batting .169, and Rene Rivera, batting .186, were the two main fillers for Mauer. Mauer left on April 12th with leg problems. Before he left, Mauer was batting .235. I think Mauer will be a key player in the Twins lineup, especially since Justin Morneau (1B, batting .225) was placed on the disabled list on Tuesday with a wrist strain.

All Star Managers

SF Giants manager Bruce Bochy an Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington have recently been selected for the 2011 All Star game that will take place at Chase Field, Arizona on July 12th. Interestingly enough, these are the two managers that were facing off to try and win the 2010 World Series. That battle was won by the Giants in Texas. Bochy has much more experience, having been a manager for 16 years. But Washington has only been a manager for a short 4 years. The American League team tends to have more power, but not as many hits, but the National League Team tends to get on base a lot but doesn't go deep to much. Whatever the turnout, I'm hoping for an exciting All Star Game this year.

Teixiera Ties Record
http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?c_id=mlb&content_id=15940953&query=game_pk%3D287934
As seen in this video Mark Teixiera has tied a record. He hit homers from both sides of the plate for the 11th time, tying Chili Davis and Eddie Murray for the all-time record. Once again a yankee has tied a record. What a surprise. Let's just hope he doesn't turn out to be on steroids.
